Use of Pronoun & definition, examples

Pronoun - A word that is used in place of a noun or a phrase to avoid repetition.

Like :- ‘He’, ‘it’, ‘hers’, ‘me’, ‘them’, etc. They all are pronouns.


We can't say like this. (हम इस तरह से नहीं कह सकते)  -

Karan is a good student. Karan studies hard. Karan loves study very much.

Note:-In the above example we noticed that we repeat "Karan" number of time. Now we replace the name of Karan into pronoun "He"(वह).

ऊपर वाले उदहारण में हम notice करते है कि "karan" नाम को बार - बार repeat किया जा रहा है. तो हम "करन" को pronoun "He" (वह) से replace कर देंगे।

Karan is good student. He studies hard. He loves to study very much.

Examples:

I, we, you, he,She, it, they, etc.Personal pronouns: words used in place of Nouns referring to person.

They like us.

Police is following him.

We were talking about you.


Possessive pronouns: stand for the people who have possession of something.

Examples:

This is her car.

This car is hers.

That is their school.

That school is theirs.

This is my laptop.

This laptop is mine.

Where is your house?


Reflexive pronouns: words use as forms of personal pronouns for emphasis.

Examples:

You look at yourself.

We talk about themselves.

I will write my notes myself.

She talks to herself.

I myself will write my notes. (Emphatic)

You yourself will see .( Emphatic)


Demonstrative pronouns:-  Words used for noun to point out object.

 This, that, these, those.

Examples:

This is my house.

Have you ever seen that.

These are good friends.

That is car.

Those are best friends.


Interrogative pronouns      Relative pronouns

 Who- कौन.                            Who - जो

 Whom - किसे                         Whom - जिसे

 Whose - किसका                    Whose - जिसका

 What - क्या                             That - जो

 Which - कौन - सा                   Which - जो


Interrogative pronouns:- Words used for nouns to ask questions.

Examples:

Who is he?  वह कौन हैं?

Whom will you call? तुम किसे बुलाओगे?

Whose is that? वह किसका हैं?

Which class do you study? तुम कौन सी कक्षा में पढ़ते हो?


Relative pronouns:- words used for nouns to express function relating to ' who, which, that, whose, whom etc.

Examples:

That person who played well last week is her friend.

That car whom you purchased. It's beautiful.

The car whose colour is red. it's them.


Indefinite pronouns:-  That refers to non-specific beings, objects, or places.

Everybody, nobody, somebody, either, neither, all, much, several, each, others, another etc.

Examples:

Many were watching movie there.

Can anyone help them?

Everybody has six Sense.

Everything is happened good.

Both are best friend.

Somebody were following them. Etc....


Reciprocal pronouns:- Words used to point out mutual relationship.

We can't use them with singular subjects

Each other and one another.

Examples:

They were fighting each other.

We will talk each other/one another .

They do not know about each other/ one another.

They were not happy one another.
